The new iPhone

There's been a whole bunch of leaks popping up of the "supposed" next generation iPhone casing. If this were true, the new iPhone would sport a similar form factor of the iPhone 4/4S. Noteworthy changes are the obvious larger, elongated screen, aluminum back-plate in two anodized color-ways, smaller "micro-dock", front camera being shifted above the earpiece, headphone jack moved to the bottom, and the secondary microphone is now between the camera and flash. Now while I do see some of these changes making its way onto the next iPhone hardware, some of the choices don't really jive with me.

For instance, the back-plate is not full metal, instead opting to leave glass strips at the top and bottom. Not something I'd expect from Apple design wise, but hey, I didn't think the black antenna breaks on the leaked iPhone 4 was very Apple at the time. Now it's an iconic hall-mark of the iPhone4(S)' design. Well, I've gone ahead and rendered something that I believe will be very close to what Apple will show off this fall.

Start Up Weekend, April 2012

Start Up Weekend asked me to do another t-shirt for their event this past April. This shirt is a play on the Windows Phone home screen, and each tile represents the words of the title: Mega Start Up Weekend At Demo, April 2012. I also redesigned their logo above to suit the three new categories: Gaming, Mobile, and Robots.

Life is an Adventure

I just took a crash corse in painting! To be quite honest, I hate painting. I've never been good at it, and I hate the mess it creates. However, this was for school, so I had to do something. We needed to include a 'theme' or 'hidden message' for our paintings, and I chose: "Life is an adventure". And what better way to demonstrate this than the iconic Calvin and Hobbes duo? Calvin and Hobbes is my one of my favorite comics, and I hope I did them justice with this painting. The photos are in chronological order starting with the above photo, my initial sketch. I took a picture after each class to document my progress. The painting was done in acrylic paint, and the colors were achieved by blending primary colors (plus black and white).

iOS Lock Screen

Ever since the release of iOS 5.1, there's been something bugging me. The lock screen. Don't get me wrong, I will follow Apple's decisions to the ends of the universe. However, for some reason, the new fast camera access just didn't sit right with me. So I decided to do something about it.

KITTEH & Co.

I created this "cougar" character for school work. My schools mascot is a cougar, so I use him for a bunch of different projects. I don't know if he would be considered a "cougar" per-se, but whatevers. His name is KITTEH for now, or until I can think of a better name. I also included more of the monkey's I used to draw, as well as a dragon for Chinese new years.

KEITAI

Smartphones. Probably the most popular thing since sliced bread. Apple completely re-wrote the definition of what a smartphone was, and should be, when they graced the world with their first generation iPhone. I see a future where mobile devices and cloud computing will be an integral part of society - so why not take a crack at making it better.

This is my project, KEITAI. Keitai is the Japanese word for cell phone - simple. Japan is at the forefront of technology, and for good reason. Japanese people have always had the innate ability to understand what people need, and it's evident in every product they make. The Japanese aren't afraid to think outside the box, and do something people think won't work. This spirit has been baked into KEITAI.

Update

Just a quick update on what I've been up to. I've been swamped with school work, college applications, senior project, and work, so sorry for the lack of updates.

I just finished decorating in accordance with the holidays, and I think it looks pretty damn sweet. My senior project is coming along, aside from the little setback from my camera (seriously, never get a NEX-5N). I've been pretty impressed with some of my work in Art class, so I'll try to post pictures of my work when I can. I really want to do a review of my new earphones (so I can be a cool kid), and hopefully build up my portfolio to send in for art school applications. And well, that about it. Pretty lame right? Yeah, I know.

SO.. I'm gonna dump a bunch of stuff I've worked on in the past. Some of them were recent, some from even as far back as last year. HOO HAH!
